I am an Associate Professor in Psychology at Macquarie University. I am primarily interested in personality dynamics and the possibility of personality change. My research background is in psychodynamic theory. However, my research is presently examining personality dynamics from a dynamical systems perspective. My published research has been particularly interested in defense mechanisms, unconscious mental processes, dreams, and the the science and philosophy of psychoanalysis. My current research is turning to the relationship between personality dynamics and spirituality. I also enjoy looking at the history of personality research and of psychology generally.
